Holy Snap Crackle and Pop!!!!

Today I discovered the magic of a little book called "The Big Ass Book of Crafts" by Mark Montano.
Ho-Lee-Sheet.
It's my new Bible. I've probably read the thing about 5 times now. Every single project idea in the book is AMMAAZINGG. Mark Montano certainly knows his stuff and has the greatest ideas. Plus, all of the projects are affordable and use things that you probably already have lying around the house!! So far I've only made one project though, the Baby Head Paperweight. I will write a tutorial out for everyone soon and show off that cute little gem. I just thought I would let the entire world know that I officially love that book and that it is well worth your $19.95.

While you're at the book store or library checking out TBABOC, I also recommend picking up "Bazaar Bizarre" by Greg Der Ananian. Another awesome craft book loaded great ideas!!
Anyone got any other great crafting books that I NEED to know about? Let me know and I will write a review!

Decoupage Candle Holder Tutorial

Ok this is a fairly simple tutorial. I made this for my PRD Secret Santa gift last year (and one for myself as well ;) ) and decided to make a nifty step-by step guide!
Ingredients:
1 CLEAN glass candle holder of any shape or size
1 candle that will fit well in the glass (make sure it smells yummy !)
1 computer and printer to print out your images (I used images of old horror movie posters off of the internet)
1 pair of scissors
1 large paintbrush and a sponge roller or brayer
1 jar of Mod Podge
*Optional* Glitter, stickers, ribbon, etc.

Step 1) Find your images, print them out or cut them out of a magazine and cut all of them to your desired size/shape/whatever
Photobucket
Step 2) Take your CLEAN glass holder (remember to wash your glass with hot soapy water and dry it well or you might sabotage your project) and give it a nice coat of Mod Podge
Photobucket
* This step is entirely optional* I'm really A.nal about brush strokes, even strokes made by sponge brushes, so I use a sponge paint roller to even out the texture of the Mod Podge. Yes, I'm OCD, but hey at least my projects look nice :) Plus I like that it gives the glass a frosty look.

Step 3) Next, take your cut out images and place them carefully on your glass, smoothing out the wrinkles with a brayer or your sponge roller.
Photobucket
Step 4) Next, after all of your images are on the glass, give the images a nice coat of Mod Podge. After about 15 minutes, do it again.

*Optional* add some glitter, stickers, or tie a ribbon around your candle holder to finish it off.

Step 5) Light your candle and bask in the glow of your own awesomeness

How do I spend my time, you ask??

Why, on teh intorntez, of course!!!!!
I'm posting today (tonight? whatevs) to whore around some of the sites I frequent.
Of course, there are the usual Facebook and MySpace. I spend too much time on Myspace. Come visit me at http://www.myspace.com/zannaxxxbanana , but if you add me let me know that you're not just a creeper. Moving on!!
I frequent a DIY board called Punk Rock Domestics. I've been a member there since 2005 and I love it. Yes, it gets a little crazy in there from time to time, but its still cool.
I'm also a certified member of the Bitches Sew Stitches, a crazy group of crafty gals that like to get a little bitchy. Visit them at their forum or the new website.
Also, I'm a new member over at D.I.Y. Scene. Check it ouuuttttt.

Other than that, I spend a good amount of time on Etsy, checking out shops and thinking of new ways to improve my growing shop. Yes, that's right folks, it's ALWAYS the right time for shameless self-promotion.

I like crafts :)

That's right, I have an Etsy shop.

Currently, I only have some jewelry and hair accessories in the shop, but I'm working on putting in some glass votive holders, soap, candles, light switch covers, and maybe even some dolls. Like I said, I'm a crafty bitch.

Feel free to whore my shop around :)

Well Hullo There.

Blog #1
I guess I will start off my introducing myself.
My name is Zanna. It is in fact, the greatest name ever known to mankind.
I am a crafter/artist/musician/bitch.
I have been doing crafts since I could hold a pair of scissors and a bottle of glue. I like to sew, make jewelry, knit, decoupage, paint, make soaps and candles, construct..... anything really. I just love crafting.
I go to art school. No, I'm not a hipster. I do not smoke Black n Milds, nor do I believe that I am more Indie than you. I go to the Savannah College of Art and Design. My major (for now) is Graphic Design, and I'm thinking of minoring in Photography or Scientific Illustration.
I thrive on music. I play trumpet (5 years of marching band, symphonic band, pep band, and wind ensemble.. represent). I also play bagpipe, and dabble in guitar. I love all music, including but not limited to : classic country (George Jones FTW), 80's pop, hair bands, punk, rockabilly, pshycobilly, metal, 90's music, traditional cultural styles, opera, and classical.
I. LOVE. HORROR. All horror. I don't care how cheesy it is, I love it. From age three, every time I have gone to the video store with my Dad, I have always picked up at least four horror films. I knew from a young age that people getting their intestines ripped out was my thing. Horror inspires everything I do, from my makeup, to my art, to my crafts.
I go antique shopping about once a week. I freaking love antiques. This fuels my theory that I am a gay man trapped in a female body. As well as an antique/vintage fetish, I am obsessed with showtunes, Disney movies, and Drag Queens. You be the judge.
I'm a girl of many interests. I love white trash culture, and I want to spend my life in a shitty parked double wide with Christmas lights and pink flamingos out front, shooting possums for dinner. I also love body modifications. Piercings, tattoos, scarification, branding, and other mods (split tongues and pointed ears, anyone?) are all my thing.

The more you know......
